There are dozens of trails nearby just a few miles away starting off of Skyline Drive, including access to the Appalachian Trail. If you want something closer (and easier), stroll the well-marked trails of Preddy Creek Park. There is even a trail from the cabin to Lydia Mountain Lodge that passes the site of an old Cold War radar site. Enjoy the Stanardsville Farmers Market on Saturdays from April through October. Enjoy the casual dining in Stanardsville or Ruckersville and at Bearrr Appetit at Lydia Mountain Lodge itself, where a spectacular view awaits you. Visit Montpelier, home of James Madison, our fourth president, and tour the grounds or just hike on the paths. Monticello, home of Thomas Jefferson, is also close enough for a visit.
