Summary: This hotel is a really mixed bag, from a cleanliness point of view it is immaculate, and the standard of room furnishings, bed linen, towels and toiletries is also very high. That is where the 5 (more like 4 star) rating ends. The hotel is beautiful but is full of taxidermy which isnt to everyone's taste, so future bookers need to be mindful of that. The service was really below 4 star, we ordered wine with meals that didnt arrive and needed constant prompting, the staff were spread so the they couldn't be attentive, it wasn't their fault but the management are not prioritising service here so if you want attentive staff you won't get it. The food was a mixed standard, the beef cheeks were fantastic. But the shirt ribs were so tough they had to go back. The staff were hugely apologetic and offered swift alternatives. The rooms have a very dated TV so no chance to stream anything which is a real downside.. you are stuck with chanel 4, sky news. Multiple QVC channels.. its a place where you might like to sit and watch a movie in your suite lounge, but you cannot mirror or stream so not 5 start. The worst part which really let's everything down is the offer to attend the sister hotel pool and spa just up the road, as a complimentary offer. The photos are not reality. The pool is dirty. Dated,with black mould in the changing rooms, the lockers are wooden and swolen up from condensation and the grout kn the floor is dirty. I went in the pool for 4 minutes and got out.
